Day 17 - Tobique Narrows to Woodstock

Well - we survived the sleep at the reserve's campsite.  I did wake up to Bas losing it...I didn't quite figure out what it was before falliung back asleep, but some kind of animal had gotten into his food - he wasn't so quite in trying to get rid of it.

Wow - beautiful scene to wake up to!!  With the rain gone, and early enough in the moring that it's still very calm, what a beautiful site!  Another lesson I've learned - of the camps I've been at, the freebies have been the nicest - and no one else around.  Good stuff!
The campsite at Tobique Narrows...nice morning!
Well, after stopping at the gas station on the reserve and talking to some locals, we were off again.  Started out pretty hilly, but we were pretty high up already, a lot of today should be more down then up.  As we got closer to the end of our day, it got a lot more hilly on the highway, but thank you Newbrunswick - they had some rail trail along side it that we rode mostly instead - saved some hills, but the gravel got pretty sketchy - a lot of drifting on my tires in some sections - eek.  No spills though!

World's Longest Covered Bridge
We stopped at the world's longest covered bridge, and got some timmy's, and visited the library for internet - all in Hartland.

We ended up biking up to the town of hills, Woodstock, to camp tonight....this place is built on BIG hills.  A hot day with lots of hills to finish isn't exactly ideal, but it's a bit bigger a town - so, we dropped off and set up camp, then biked to the grocery store, beer store (first taste of New Brunswick's local offerings), and I got some more fuel at Canadian Tire while Bas looked for replacements shorts (these never came while I was with him - his shorts were literally falling to pieces...cheap dutch people ;)

Back at the campsite, we had salad and sandwiches for dinner - surprisingly pleasant...long time since my last salad.  We met a slightly sketchy farmer from West Virginia who was doing a motorcycle trip on his own.  I left he and Bas (to confirm Bas's stereotypes of Americans) while I got a shower.  At night, we had a lightening storm with only a small amount of rain...lots of flashes and bangs though.  Hopefully the little rain cooled it off for tomorrow!
